Raw sand specific surface area tester Surface Area Analyzer for Foundry Sand

Introduction
 
Specific surface area refers to the total surface area possessed by a unit mass of material. It is divided into two categories: external surface area and internal surface area. The national standard unit is square meters per gram. An ideal non-porous material only has an external surface area. This instrument uses the air permeability method principle to measure the time (t) required for air to pass through a certain volume of sand column. Then, the time (t) is substituted into a given formula to calculate the actual specific surface area of the casting silica sand sample.
This instrument is designed according to the GB/T 9442-1998 standard "Silica Sand for Casting" and its appendix B "Determination of Angularity Factor for Silica Sand Used in Casting" to measure the porosity and actual specific surface area of casting silica sand (new sand, reclaimed sand). It uses an SM high-precision timer with high accuracy, which can be set for up to 999 seconds and 99 milliseconds. The infrared sensor is highly sensitive and has strong anti-interference capabilities. The automated control system completes the entire measurement process with a single button press.
 
Working Principle
The working principle of the instrument involves taking washed and dried original sand, weighing 50±0.01g, and placing it into a calibrated glass sand-bearing test tube. The sand can also be sieved to take a single-sieve sand as the sample. Gently tap the test tube with a small wooden rod until the volume of the sand no longer decreases, record the volume V (ml) of the sand, and measure or read the height h (cm) of the sand column. Then, fix the sand-bearing test tube on the test tube holder and seal it.
Turn on the power switch, check if the timer display shows 000.00, if not, press the up key to zero (because this meter has a power failure record retention function). Press the "Start" button (the instrument will automatically complete the entire measurement process), the three-way solenoid valve DZ and the vacuum pump work simultaneously, causing the liquid level to rise to the infrared control sensor K1, the solenoid valve DZ and the vacuum pump stop working simultaneously, the instrument automatically switches to timing measurement, the float liquid level reaches the infrared timing sensor K2, the meter starts timing, the liquid level reaches the infrared timing sensor K3, the timing stops, record the timing time, one test ends. Conduct 5 consecutive tests, discard the maximum and minimum recorded times, and calculate the average time t. Substitute the measured time (t) into the formula to calculate the actual specific surface area of the sand.
