1.1 The original Brookfield cone viscometer imported from the United States is very suitable for the paint and coating industry (including high shear cone viscometer also known as ICI cone viscometer), it is mainly used to determine the viscosity and rheology of viscous materials, because its shear rate is relatively high (up to 13300/s), It is suitable to simulate the shear rate in the process of coating brushing, so it is an essential instrument for quality control and research and development in coating production.
1.2 The advantages of this instrument, in addition to the small sample size required, easy cleaning and fast testing speed, are better reproducibility for paints with good pigment dispersion due to the narrow and symmetrical annular gap between the fixed part and the rotating part. In addition, the change of shear rate can be controlled by computer software, and the change of viscosity of the paint in the process of brushing can be simulated by setting the change of shear rate.
1.3 It is worth noting that because the surface area of the cone is much smaller than that of other rotational viscometers, the signal obtained on the cone is also relatively weak when measuring low viscosity samples, which will reduce the accuracy of the test.
