1.Description
For ordinary liquid coatings, the four stages in the drying process are roughly as follows:
1.The first stage is the so-called pear-shaped visual impression, which corresponds to the time it takes for the solvent to evaporate.
2. The second stage is the cut off of continuity, which is equivalent to the sol-gel transition transition.
3. The third stage is the interruption of the track, which corresponds to the surface drying time.
4 In the fourth stage, the needle no longer penetrates the film, which corresponds to the final drying time.

The linear drying time recorder developed by Standarda is developed according to ASTM D 5895 and has been widely used in the paint and coating industry for 20 years. The instrument is equipped with a needle holder capable of holding six needles (each with a spherical end) and is powered to the needle holder by a constant speed motor. The instrument is equipped with six glass test strips (330mm×24mm); The needle holder takes a certain amount of time to walk through the test strip at a constant speed (the time is selected by the operator, and there are four kinds of 6,12,24 and 48 hours). The time scale is mounted on the side plate, and the scale on it is suitable for four different speeds (6,12,24 or 48 hours). These speeds are obtained by adjusting the adjustable motor on the instrument. At the same time, the instrument is also attached with a LCD screen to display the running time of the needle seat. After the test, the operator can judge the drying characteristics of the sample at each time stage by simply removing the glass strip against the time scale
