Introduction

The ST149 Fully Automatic Oxidative Stability Index (OSI) Tester is meticulously designed and manufactured in strict accordance with GB/T21121-2007 for the determination of oxidative stability in animal and vegetable oils through accelerated oxidation testing. Controlled by a microcontroller and featuring an LCD display, it automatically presents results and prints them out.

During the OSI determination, air is passed through the oil sample at a specific temperature and flow rate to accelerate the oxidation of triglycerides, producing volatile organic acids. These acids are carried into a conductivity cell where they dissolve and ionize in water, altering its electrical conductivity. The computer continuously measures the conductivity, and a sharp increase indicates the end of the induction period, with the time before this event being the OSI time.

The microcontroller not only controls the process but also plots the sample's time-conductive curve and automatically calculates the oil's oxidative stability time. The instrument comes with a sample measurement switch and status display.
