Introduction

The instrument utilizes a digital platform, enhancing its precision, repeatability, and reliability. The polarizer employs Glan Thompson prisms (designated wavelengths for SGW-568 and SGW-537).

The instrument operates in a silent mode both in standby and during operation, which improves the response speed of the test samples, achieves high-speed measurement, reduces the sample measurement time, and aligns its technical indicators with similar foreign instruments.

Equipped with an extensive database, the instrument features user-level management, allowing data to be saved, transferred, printed, and traced. Users can define and pre-store commonly used measurement methods.

The SGW-537 is a newly developed fully automatic high-speed multi-wavelength polarimeter with two light sources and a choice of 8 wavelengths to meet various customer needs.

An upgrade version of the audit trail software compliant with national pharmacopoeia, GMP, GLP, and FDA/21 CFR Part 11 requirements can be purchased, along with compliance validation services for the audit trail software to suit the audit trail needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

Optional accessories include a split architecture instrument with upper computer software for remote control, various temperature-controlled and corrosion-resistant test tubes, and a customizable barcode scanner. By scanning QR codes, test data can be synchronized and transmitted, achieving networked identification (ID).

Principle

The working principle of a Visual Polarimeter is based on the rotation of the plane of polarization of light as it passes through an optically active substance. Here are the detailed steps of its working principle:

  1. Light Source: The instrument typically uses a stable light source, such as a sodium lamp, to produce polarized light.
  2. Polarizer: The light from the source first passes through a polarizer that only allows light waves of a specific direction to pass through, thus producing polarized light.
  3. Sample Tube: The polarized light passes through a sample tube containing the substance to be tested. If the sample is optically active, it will cause the plane of polarization of the light to rotate.
  4. Visual Observation: The rotated polarized light then passes through a second polarizer (analyzer), which can be rotated to align with the rotated light's plane of vibration. The observer adjusts the analyzer until the light is completely extinguished (i.e., no light is visible) by looking through an eyepiece.
  5. Measurement of Rotation Angle: By measuring the angle through which the analyzer is rotated, the optical rotation of the sample can be determined. This angle is usually expressed in degrees (°) and is related to the concentration of the sample and the path length.
